KICKING THE TIRES OF APRIL 10, 2020

Stood in line at Cosco to shop for unnecessary but comfort creating items. This is the first creep out from the home cave since Sonoma County’s “shelter at home” mandate.

It felt like an extra in one of those post-apocalyptic movies where the only thing in the landscape with me is a newspaper blowing down the street. At 9:30 in the morning, only two other cars shared the northbound 101 during the 13-mile drive to Costco. The parking lot was filled by spaces: no need to circle round and round looking to park.

The Costco employees managed the “standing in line with monitored entry business” effectively. After loading the car with our purchases, the drive home was free and easy. If the groceries had put themselves away, like characters in a Disney cartoon, it would have been a perfect day.
